A selection from my last few weeks of life drawing. It’s constantly challenging, but I love it.

Return of the blog
My blog’s been broken for a couple of weeks but is now fixed, hurrah. I’m quite busy with a couple of commissions at the moment (will post when completed) but in the meantime here are some sketchbook pages.
This is the dining room of the hotel we went to for Mother’s Day – pretty middle-England, overlooking a dual carriageway.
And a couple of sketches from the recent Book Of The Dead exhibition at the British Museum.
Big fish & Little fish
I posted this card when I first began this blog, which was also before I had Photoshop, so it wasn’t the best quality image. I wanted to improve on that and tidy it all up a bit, as I quite like it and wanted to add it to my Illustration page. Little Fish is sadly no longer with us, but Big Fish is still going strong and is having some crazy times on my website’s front page. You can view the card much closer by clicking on it and then clicking again to zoom in.
Acura Storyboards
Here are some storyboard frames I did for an ad last year. It was an awesome-sounding film for Acura cars, where dancers and visual effects swirl and gather in sync with the music played over the top. The dancers were to be a kind of luminous white if I remember rightly, on a black background. I didn’t get to see the end result but here are the frames – they don’t tell a story, they just needed a few done to represent various bits. I went a bit photoshop crazy on this job to make the cars look as good as poss.

Olive
I had a terrifying experience yesterday, namely looking after my friend Emily’s baby for an hour while she was in a meeting. Myself and little Olive sat in a cafe while I drew her. That bit was lovely; then the eyes half-opened and in such a position she continued to lie for about 20 minutes while I, terrified, jiggled the pram as instructed to keep her from opening them any further. Eventually she went back to sleep and I drew a tea cup to calm my nerves.
Sunday
Drawing Rich with Conté crayon, pencil and my nice new Copic pen. I’m quite pleased with it as both nib and cartridge are replaceable and it’s made of aluminium, mmm.
